On Human Nature too

July 15, 2006

*Another post immediately following the first one; still on the question of human nature.

"On your question: Firstly, I wish to impress on you, mate, and to others who may be reading this, that I know too little to be arrogantly reducing such noble ideas into my meek words. I admittedly do not know everything.

I just thought that ideas of this magnitude may not be perfectly qualified nor quantified in a manner that is common to our, particularly my, feeble abilities.

Is evil something external or is borne purely out of circumstance? - I don’t know.
But I do think that circumstance may bring about evil.

I see human history as a continuing battle of ideas. A battle between good and evil. A battle between those who believe (and in many cases know) that man is created in the image and likeness of God and those who believe otherwise.

Those who believe that man is created in his Source’s image and likeness are those who know that in his ascent, he cannot succeed at the expense of another human being, but instead with the help of this other fellow human being and by helping this fellow human being as well.

This way, he adheres to the collective notion of the nature of man - the distinct creature who has the unique cognitive capability of reason and creativity. Who, among all other creatures, may actively and knowingly take part in a continuing process of creation - in the guise of science and technology, among others to uphold the general welfare.

Just my two cents worth."
